A leap of faith at 38, a passion for helping others, and the journey that became Karee Hays Esthetics.
Karee Hays didn’t begin her career in aesthetics straight out of school. In fact, her journey into skincare began at 38 years old, during a season of life that required her to take a chance on something new.
What started as a decision to find a career she loved while helping support her family would eventually become Karee Hays Esthetics—and a philosophy around skincare rooted in education, personalization, and helping people feel confident in their own skin.
We sat down with Karee to talk about where it all began.
Q: What led you to the skincare and esthetics space?
"My journey into aesthetics began when I was 38 years old. My family was going through some financial challenges, and I knew I needed to find a career that I truly loved while also allowing me to support my family. I had always loved helping people feel good about themselves, and I felt that aesthetics was something I could be passionate about.
Going back to school at 38 was a leap of faith, but it became one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. After graduating, I worked alongside a dermatologist, which gave me an incredible crash course in skin health, advanced esthetics, and treating each person’s skin as unique. I then had the opportunity to work with a plastic surgeon, where I gained a deeper understanding of how surgical procedures, skincare, and lasers can work together to create beautiful, long-term results.
Those experiences gave me a strong foundation in both the science and artistry of skincare, but they also reinforced why I fell in love with aesthetics in the first place: helping people feel confident and good about themselves."
Q: What inspired you to start Karee Hays Esthetics?
"After working in dermatology and plastic surgery, I knew I wanted to create an experience that combined the knowledge I had gained with the personal connection I valued so much.
I founded Karee Hays Esthetics to provide personalized, results-driven skincare in an environment where clients feel comfortable, cared for, and truly heard. I wanted to create a place where skincare wasn’t overwhelming or one-size-fits-all, but instead centered around each client’s individual skin, lifestyle, and goals.
My journey has taught me that it’s never too late to take a chance on yourself. What began as a decision to create a career I loved and a way to support my family grew into something much bigger — a business built around my passion for skincare and my desire to help others feel confident in their own skin."
Q: What sets Karee Hays Esthetics apart?
"For me, it comes down to the experience and the relationships I build with my clients. There are so many products, treatments, and trends in the skincare industry, and it can be difficult to know what is actually right for you.
I believe your skincare should be as unique as you are. My goal is to understand each client’s skin and goals and provide honest, personalized recommendations based on what will truly benefit them.
